I have been waiting for this update for a long time since I originally bought the setup (AirPort+AirDisk) hoping I could back up to it, so I was really excited by this announcement. Unfortunately, It doesn’t work! I installed all the updates and tried all the prescribed methods, and still this does not work for me. It surprises me that Apple has no documentation of this new feature.

I had been thinking I needed to cosolidate my IM clients, but have never found a decent solution for the Mac… until now. My friend Jami turned me on to AdiumX which effectively combines all your Instant Messaging acounts into a single app. Supported protocols include AOL, Yahoo!, Jabber, MSN and pretty much every other one you can think of. I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks and it’s great. It lets you consolidate people with multiple accounts into one contact so you can hit them up on whichever is currently active, and it offers a highly customizable interface. Plus it’s free (or really cheap if you feel like donating some $$.)
